Very cool link; sadly, I didn't see the Chopweiler listed there. I was really curious to see what that originally went for.
As for what I'd like to see; I like all the Bussekin steels. I think they all suit me for certain jobs:
1) INFI = Pretty in LE, strong, impressively capable of keeping an edge, and really, the showcase steel of the Busse family. I own an ASH1 fatty, a SAR5, and a SARsquatch in this steel, and gotta say that they are inpressive, both for the steel and blade design that went into them.
2)154 CM = Very useful as a utilitarian steel in the Kitchen, as an EDC for all purpose use, and extremely handy for hunters/campers/fishermen, since it's stainless.
3) SR77 = This is the workhorse of the Busses', IMHO. Who can say that this isn't an amazing steel after handling a Dogfather? I love it for its' strength, chopping capability in the larger blades. Add to the fact that it respectfully holds it own comparatively against the INFI for a fraction of the cost, and you can understand why someone on a budget can come to praise Dan for this steel. Way to go Dan!
4) SR101 = I consider this a medium between the SR101 and INFI. Very capable steel. I only have a Crash Axe and Chopweiler made from this metal so far, but I was impressed and pleased with it. For someone who wants something a little more pricey than the SR77, but can't afford INFI, the quality that the Swamp puts into the blades made from this steel is greatly appreciated. I find that it takes an edge a little easier than the SR77, but I don't knw if I would say it keeps an edge longer than SR77. I've done some chopping with the Chopweiler, DFLE, SOD, and my S6, and I found there wasn't much difference in the "wear and tear and resharpen timeline", between the two metals.
Overall, I would be sad to see SR77 leave the yard. I truly believe it has earned a place here, and in the hearts of those who first came to love Scrap Yard because of the very blades made from this steel. I'm overjoyed to see Dan playing with the other steels; but whenever I think of the Yard, I'll always associate it with SR77.
And what I would love to see out of the yard next would be either an Axe, a Kukri, or a Sword, made from the SYK brand steel..... please Dan?
