Saw a youtube video the other day of a nice young man who was very upset about how the SYKCO business plan works.

(I don't want to link to the video, the guy swears a lot, but if you really want to see it, just search for it.)

Anyway, I've learned through my time on the forum and my time in the woods with my Scrap Yards that the way Dan and his family do things is what allows us to get the very best for such a reasonable price.

I'm happy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I saw his video and I appreciate you not posting it due to his language. I have learned that there is no way to please everyone and I am sorry that he feels the way he does.

Dan

As I sit here and look at my SYCKO blades, I ponder, out of all my blade purchases none have given me more joy and satisfaction than these blades from the Yard.

There are the blades and then there is this forum and it's Dogs. After becoming a member on BF years back I seriously decided to stay away from purchasing any high end knives. The forum was full of negative statements and complaints. So and so makes the best blades, or this maker totally screwed me over, so on and so forth. Then I stumbled upon the Yard. I don't even remember how. All I know is that when I went to the forum the posts were positive. I thought, these people thoroughly love these blades so there must be something to them. The kicker was that in relation to the others these were the best priced. I lurked for a while and then came the release of the SOD. There was also a new business plan which meant I didn't have to worry about these blades selling out. Score!

The SOD blew me away. I love my other knives but they are not in this league. I honestly love everything about this blade. The color, coating, choil, etc. It may have taken a couple of months to get but man is it worth it! If someone is willing to be patient with the process then they will not be disappointed. If these blades are making it to China, Norway, and various other countries that have been mentioned in posts then it is clear SYCKO blades are available to all who truly want them. Who cares HOW the business plan works, IT WORKS!

Thanks Scrap Yard, Dan, Patti, Renee and all those behind the scenes. You are doing a fine job and please know that most of us LOVE this new business plan!

You can please SOME of the people ALL of the time,
And you can please ALL of the people SOME of the time,
But you cannot please ALL of the people ALL of the time.

No worries, Dan. Just keep doing what you're doing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Precisely

Thanks

I feel no need to be political or sugar coat things, as I'm not running a business here. The guy in the video is a tool. Flat-out, no holds barred, industrial grade tool belt.

The great thing about the internet is that it's given everyone a voice.

The bad thing about the internet is that most people aren't worth hearing speak. Johnny rants-a-lot is "most people".

The business model here is funky and I can understand not liking it, or even being frustrated that it's not more clear from the start. But his goofy little "LOOK AT ME" rant posted on youtube is a childish and idiotic way to vent that anger. Dude needs to spend less time stuttering in internet videos and more time getting a grip on the real world.

And that's MY rant <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Of course Dan, the Yard has my respect and you are doing a fine job!

Now, are we going to see a "Dog Waki" or what? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I am quite impressed with the SY production paradigm. While we would all love to be able to purchase every knife we want at any time we choose, it makes complete sense to manage production efficiently based on preordered quantities, warranty stock and a fixed capacity. The only way to pull it off is via customer retention, which the Yard seems to have perfected. I am new, but very excited to be a part of this group (soon with the S5(s), and hopefully the Regulator(s), and hopefully many more to come.

I missed out on some of the other models that were produced before I ventured into fixed blades and thus The Yard, but that is life, and like others have said, it is far richer to enjoy what we have versus envy what we don't.

What we have here is someone that SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OWN SCRAP YARD KNIVES LET ALONE A BUTTER KNIFE. The worst thing is he has guns <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

338, it just rolls off the tongue.

That's my feeling. The less he buys the more for the rest of us who know their greatness.
