Why they didn't make the double guard out of steel covered with res-c I have no idea. It would have been simple. It seems as though the double guard was just an after thought.

Im still saying the DMCG would spank the hell out of the new Bowie if compared but its not a practical test since they are different knives. oh well i want one of them!!!!! I'm going to get at least 2 either way, but i would like the added security with the metal in the guard. Other thank that, that bowie is a dream. I love coffin shaped handles with double quillions. My Recon Scout is cowering in fear.
