bought this pouch today while picking up a DOG patch for my hat

first the DOG patch:

next the Maxpedition FR-1 pouch:

its meant to be used as a grab and go FAK pouch, very suitable for LEO's, SWAT etc to grab and use if needed. Works fine for us civvies too! I originaly bought this as a tool pouch for my EDC bags or packs, but I might actually set it up as a FAK......time will tell.

PICS!

The pouch has a grab handle whichmakes for easy extrication from your gear bag or pack, or it can be Malice clipped into a vest or Molle panel in a bag. One can also thread their belt thru the slot on the FRONT of the bag, and wear it as a belt pouch. I might set it up with EDC stuff and wear it on the belt and see how i like it.

as always, bomber tough construction, great materials and great people to deal with if there is a problem.

Cool Bushman! Nice pics again. I like the patch and the MAX gear. I am probably going to get the Pygmy Falcon after the review I saw on here. I have the Jumbo Versi and love it but now I want a lightweight backpack. That FR-1 looks perfect for tools.

yea the lighting outside was GREAT! That evening light, low in the west sky is perfect. I love taking pictures of gear at this time.

Dog patch is a MilSpec-Monkey patch i do believe. That one is the SMALL, comes in green too.

Nice pouch. Unlimited options on how to carry it too.

Maxpedition FR-1 setup as a FAK pouch:

to be quite honest, i not liking the Maxped FR1 as a FAK pouch....i can fit way more stuff into my 5.11 Tactical FAk pouch, and it is neater and less likely to get ripped or crushed or fall out when the pouch is open. 5.11 Tactical FAK kit pics HERE:

so i'm on the fence about this pouch (the maxped FR1). this is how i carried my toolkit before, in a Pelican 1060 case, and it is crushproof, waterproof, and slimmer to pack into a bag or pack........

time will tell what i do with the FR1 pouch...... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

great review! I haven't had much experience with maxpedition stuff, only the cheap knockoffs, but they look very well built. I want so much of their stuff..

I have the same pouch I use for my FAK/PSK and I think it's great.

Do I wish I knew about the Cheaper Than Dirt/Condor knockoff before I spent twice as much on the Maxped?

You bet. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

It looks like my Ramora....maybe a bit smaller. These are some of the toughest nylon kits made...for sure....Just like my Scapeyards ,I don't leave home without them.

UPDATE:

Carried the FR-1 around today in my HSGI bag, i had the FR-1 setup as a FAK. Actually needed to use the FAK today, as one of my buddies got a booboo (for gods sake one would think a 6' 10" tall 280 LB built like a Sherman Tank guy would'nt cry after getting a cut, but NOOOOO big baby was sniffing like Kate Moss at a party...) . Anyways, i pulled out the FR-1 FAK kit and started dressing his cut. I was not keen at how i had to struggle to get the gauze rolls out of the loops, or the fact that its hard to access the smaller gauze dressings without tearing the sterile packaging of some of the stock.

so far I'm LIKING the FR-1 as a tool kit pouch, and NOT LIKING it as a FAK pouch.

I picked up the 5.11 Rush 72 Backpack and added 2 of the 6.6 pouches and a 6.6 med pouch like yours. I really like the quality of their gear and it's easy to appreciate the design of the med pouch.

^ NICE! those 5.11 FAk pouches sure stack niceley in a pack or EDC bag dont they!

tip: if your using one for NON FAK uses, the little green First Aid Cross can be unstitched and removed.

I have some Condor gear and based on my experience so far, I would buy their gear again. If I compare the Condor to the Maxpedition, the Condor seems to be of a heavier weight material and compares to what I get from Tactical Tailor .

Maxped items are built well. I'm sure others are too.
