Good choice; serrated knives are, IMHO, a waste of steel. If you take the time to properly hone your straight edge, it can do anything a serrated knife can do. As well, it's a heck of a lot easier to re-hone the edge on a straight edged knife. Serrations tear, a good blade slices.
And welcome to the yard, Kiba. Sorry to see you missed out on the S5 (It was taken down from the site this past weekend).
If you read ColdOnes' thread on secondary markets, it should help you find a Dumpster Mutt, if your heart is set on one. I would especially check out the first site that NewDogma mentioned (Cough, cough) I agree with the serration comment. I have found them to be problematic when it comes to sharpening. I do have a couple that have serrations but they are not my favorite.

straight Totally agree with the straight blade if sticking to a single knife. Properly maintained they will cut anything a serrated knife can.

and can anyone tell me what Waki is? Waki is the thing that you will discover if you type "waki" in the search feature on this forum, or if you read forum subject lines, or if you google it.

What have you done with the golok!?!?! is that a big piece missing at the edge???
Maybe I should get a golok too, see if itīs as good as everbody saying... The Golok is great! Yes, it has been injured. Battle scar soon to be fixed. I was cutting down a mesquite with it. Them mesquite's be tough. Not really a fault of the blade, the zero grind leaves the blade super thin at the edge. With the kind of swinging I was doing I'm surprised that's the only damage, lol! I will ask Vic to keep it a little thicker as I will be using this bad boy often. Goloks are best for chopping and they make the job truly fun.
