I stuck a couple of action shots of some homemade junk knives in the knives and pics area just while I am waiting on my SYKCO S5s to arrive. I figured, who doesn't like a pic of a blade being slammed through a door right? Entertainment purposes only and since they are not, nor will they EVER be for sale and are only a novelty (mostly due to the size of the thing) would never interfere with the Busse empire's sales.
Now, if Dan or any of the Mods here wish to remove them then there is no argument here. I'm just happy to be here.

So explain the folders thread? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I don't see any harm in it (allowing us to discuss other brands) but it's not my forum. I think it would allow for more interesting discussions but I can go elsewhere for that if need be. I guess you could always do what MrPink has suggested and show your new non-SY knife and have it by a SY knife and talk about how it compares or is different. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

My way of thinking is this: This is the Scrapyard forum, and it's part of the Busse family. If somebody wants to talk about non-Bussekin knives, there's always Bladeforums. That's where I go for that.

You can always read the beginning of the folder thread too... I believe some discussing it is left on there?
I do remember that the mods did decide to keep it after some talking about it.

Pit, I'd rather like you show comparisons with Busse kin.
maybe if Dan or someone reads them, it can help show them what to work on?
sometimes criticism is a good thing... if all their knives got were praise, how would they ever improve?
When someone reviews a knife here, I'm hoping they conduct it with honesty and won't not post it because the SY didn't do well.
When I want to buy a knife, it helps if someone posts a review on it, but I don't ever want to be misled because someone had to comment positively on one knife.

Pitman, your posts have always been full of info and been accompanied by excellent pics. I know I and many on here would hate to see them stop. As for the blade questions, beats me. I like to think it isn't a message to you alone, I'm sure I've been guilty of some threads that might have slipped by the mods. I'll just try and remember to throw in a scrapper pic in my posts. Thanks again for your contributions to the Yard. I have been to Vancouver but only saw the city. You and Bushman, and maybe some others, have shown us what beauty lies beyond the city. Next time I go I will look forward to visiting those places you have shown us.

We are volunteers that do our best to try and keep the spirit of the Yard alive here. We don't live in the Yard 24/7 and because of that some threads last longer than they should.

I am starting to sound like a broken record, but if you see a post which does not belong in the Yard use the report post button beside the Post Extras that is at the bottom of each post. The icon looks like this:


Pitman - Your thread was removed because it's entire purpose was to discuss a none Scrap Yard, Swamp Rat or Busse knife. The core purpose of that thread broke this rule:
"6. No discussing other manufacturer's products. Comparisons and chopoff are great though! Busse Combat and Swamp Rat discussions are also fine. Please confine the none Rat Trap folder discussion to the folder thread."

That rule should also explain that folder posts stay in the folder thread.

Thread that are about the outdoors and great hikes that don't focus on Busse trio knives are not a problem. The problem is when a thread stops being about the trip and starts being about the competitor's blades. That makes it free advertising for a competitor.

Comparisons and chopoffs are clearly allowed and stated in the rules. The rules do not say that the outcome must always favor Dan or Jerry's knives. The honest feedback is a good thing.
