More Dawgs the merrier!

so far its looking like the Sept Labour Day long weekend, i'll be camping with a bunch of people, kids and dogs, so its going to be a great time! I do know that they are sending an 'advance team" up to secure their camping spot early.....

I will post more details as soon as i know more! , so people can plan.

Preliminary info:

looks like there will be two campsites......the camp where my lady friend, her 2 kids, and her friends with kids, (about 10 people total) will be camping, and another site close nearby, for the Dawgs. SY Dawgs are very welcome to come to the main camp & campfire and meet and mingle.

campsites are RUSTIC, [as in they are NOT BC Provincial Campsites (maintained)], on a logging road outside of Hope BC. There is a river beside the camps, ample wood to cut for firewood, and at least 3 of us (myself and her friends) will have chainsaws/axes to do so.

not sure on the parking situation, but as i understand it, there is lots of room for trucks/vans to park and the road leading to the site is hardpan, with some potholes and ruts.

Animals:

there will be around 2 - 4 SMALL lap dogs present, dont know if any of ya have dogs but they are welcome,a s long as they dont eat the other dogs and you pick up doodies if pooped in the camp area.

wilderness animals:

bears, cougars, deer, coons, are all present. Take appropriate food storage precautions. Bear bangers are encouraged kit....

Latrines: NONE

latrines are build your own affairs, preferably DOWNRIVER from the 2 camps and away from the water. Bring a shovel and bucket and cover each "trip" with a bit of forest soil. Burn your TP, but dont burn down the forest. Please maintain very clean hygiene standards, either with a bucket of water with a bit of bleach or alcohol cleaners or both.

so far thats all the info i have got, i have not been up to the site yet, i hope to go there and get pictures BEFORE the Sept Labour Day long weekend, and directions so its easy to find .

EDIT: pretty sure the camps are about 5 KM up the Carolina Mine Rd U turn exit, outside of HOPE BC.

will confirm as aoon as i can! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

- Pitman
- DOTD
- CoyoteBC
- ColdOne
- Bushman5

am i missing anyone?

Don't forget the other Busse-kin guys. There's some Hogs and Rats
up here in my area that would be into that as well.

I might be mistaken but I thought Chris (ColdOne) is from the Yukon. I know he's well off the beaten path. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Bushman,

Got another one for you. Jon (Wolf) off of the Swamp Rat forum lives
down in your neck of the woods. He doesn't come here much, but him and
me are pretty good friends.
I think that he would be interested as well.

Next time I talk with him, I'll bring it up.

Cheers

UPDATE:

the area where i had planned to have this get together is nice and SECLUDED, no worries about freaking people out when displaying or using our Tools. It is accessible best by 2WD light truck geared low or 4x4. Not a good road for vans or small cars.....

HOWEVER....during a recon trip last weekend, we discovered that the final 12% grade road decommissioned logging road has been hit with a massive rock and gravel landslide, shutting off any access to the camp site. The other site, about 2KM below the preferred camp site, does not have enough room for a group gathering, let alone the group that will be camping there (GF and her friends)...

in addition, due to my current lack of work and no money situ, I will most likely not be re-insuring my truck come August, unless I happen to find a job very very soon...

so, enough blabbering...

I am going to cancel the get together for now, and reschedule for the spring sometime. I'd rather have time to get crap together here on the homefront, and find a site for us blade wielding CDN Bacon Eaters, as well as get some coin together for beers and prizes etc etc.

sorry Dawgs,

Just remembered Sept 10 to 22nd I will be at Pink Mountain for a Moose hunt. So if it is the weekend before or after I will probably just come up for a day trip

Hey Bushy,

Not a problem. Take care of things on the home front first.
September long weekend was going to be kinda difficult for me anyway.

Cheers
