I can't imagine what it must be like with the nearest neighbor 1/4 of a mile away!
I live in a town house so I can't even imagine someone breaking into my house!

Somehow I would expect someone like you to be prepared though.

I too have heard to just wait for the cops and don't search the house... but if I was armed I can't imagine myself NOT checking out the situation.

I'm glad everything worked out and you and your family are safe. I can understand wanting to get inside and find the guy but he could have ambushed you guys. Knowing that he could have a loaded gun in his hands I would have let the cops clear the house.

You need a gun safe!

wow, thats actually scary if you think. he could have had a gun and things could have gotten way otta control. Good thing you were prepared.

Andy, first let me say that I am glad that everything turned out well for you and your family. This is a situation that showed someone with the legal right to bear arms defending his home. To bad other people don't get this.

Secondly, I read this on my lunch and laughed out loud when you said that your dad asked if you had a gun, and your reply was yes.... Two.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> That made my day!

I knew from the moment that I started to read this, that the schmuck broke into the wrong house!
