I really would like to get my hands on a SS4 and a RMD to compare against the S5. Anyone have the hat trick to try out?

What if you ground a half inch or so off of the blade and nipped the ramp a little? It might balance out.

Horn Dog seems to have a pretty good grasp of reworking the blades and keeping their edge retention from everything I've read. He could probably tool an S5.

The thought has crossed my mind but the finish would be ruined and that is a lot of work to get a knife polished up. Now if the S5LE has a different gring/bevel then it might make a difference.
