I simply cannot enjoy "consumer" audio equipment... I was ruined in college

I was ruined because I paid my way through school by working for the school's audio/lighting technician crew, which was incredibly unique at that school because we were essentially semi-pro technicians.

I did shows for Third Eye Blind, The Wallflowers, Grandmaster Flash, The Roots, Jimmy Eat World, and a bunch of other 90's one-hit-wonders

No system that can sit in a living room or a small coffee house venue can ever sate my craving for audio power after running stacks of 8-16 R-4's on each side of the stage, with each cabinet powered by two amps, so the racks had tens of thousands of watts of amplification. No fancy headphones or home studio will give back the feeling of sitting in front of a 32 channel console mixing live audio for a crowd of thousands.

Man do I miss those days. I could never do it as a full-time career, as the travel and pay both suck, but it made for some awesome stories back in college.

Working 35+ hours in one weekend was nothing, and I loved every second of it.

What blows is just missing out on a DEAL AND A HALF on a pair of Crown XLS 5000 amps.
I'm still hunting for something to pump through my JBLs. Bring da noise.

Crowns were what we used with our R-4's. Everything was on active crossovers, so one amp had one channel powering the mids and one channel on the highs, and then a second crown would be strapped for the lows. Multiple that by sixteen times and you've got a heck of a lot of sound I loved rattling dust off the rafters.

How are you dogs tonight? Have a few free minutes so I thought I would see what is going on. I hope to have my pants for the S5 and BDLE tomorrow. Bad thing is I am in a class all day so I won't know until I get home tomorrow night. Arghhhh......
