It's always a good idea ( if you can swing it ) to get a couple of the same knife so you can use one and still see where the resale prices climb to over the next 6-12 months. You never know what kind of profit you may end up with, especially when the next Bussekins come out.

Just finished my first kydex sheath, for the scrapper 5... it's no Buy Brown, but it'll do the job.

I think I want to build a better press for when I do the Waki sheath, though - all I used this time was a towel and some books plus me leaning on them.
Have any pics of the sheath?

Good point.

I knew the dogfathers would command a significant price on the second hand market, but I decided I'd rather let more dogs get a crack at them rather than gobble them up for my own profit.

Plus I'm broke

I'll probably post pics of the sheath making in a new thread in a day or two - I'm planning to make a sheath for my waki, and the DDF when it arrives (likely tomorrow). I'll also be getting another knife in a trade, and that will need pants too. I hope I don't run out of kydex.

Kydex has been getting pricey lately. The 4'x8' sheets anyway. I've been practicing with 1/8" ABS for now.

And good luck finding the tube style rivets for 1/4" thick sheaths. LOL

I bought mine in 12x24 sheets from knifekits.com - 2 sheets, 2 belt loops, and 100 rivets cost me just under $60. That's the cost of a single custom kydex sheath when you factor in shipping costs, and I expect to get a fair number of sheaths out of this batch of plastic.

Unfortunately, knifekits was out of stock on the rivet setter, and the one I bought at ace hardware today isn't quite right. I was able to flare them with a screw head then manually flatten them out, which gave OK results, but I really need the proper tool. I'll try hitting fastenal tomorrow and see what I come up with.

Lucky for me, the instrument I use to take data is broken, so I'm on sort of a mini-vacation this week.

Very cool, but as I'm still in the experimental stages I'm sticking with the cheaper materials. Of course once I get it exactly the way I want then I'll be hitting up my wholesaler for all the kydex he has.

Fastenall rocks. There's one right up the street about 3 miles from me.

Ya know, with the price the desert dogfathers are fetching, and knowing that the Busse Bushwhacker bowie is in the pipeline, I'm tempted to sell mine instead of keeping it, just to put a little extra money aside for the Bushwhacker.

If I knew for certain that the Buswhacker was going to be released soon, I would sell the dogfather without a second thought - the BW is likely to replace the BM-E as one of my grail knives, so if I can get one straight from the source it'll be a no-brainer to do so. And if they do LE only, I'm going to need every dollar I can find. I really hope there is a CG release.
