no clue. there's no batter pack (yeah, that old) but i plugged it into a 9v adaptor and still no power.

Might sounds strange, but if you wiggle the power connector does it flicker on and off? I had an old one like that and the power jack on the player had a cold solder.

Also, were you able to check and make sure the 9v adapter is putting out power and is the correct polarity for the player?

Yeah, I'm not a fan. My buddy is/was really into escort ZX2's. He had this decently rare model; S/R or something. I forget.

i tried multiple adaptors, but i'll give that wiggle a try.

on a lot of the older portable cd players the traces where tiny and the solder really sucked. on the majority of the ones i had to resolder the power and headphone jacks. those players are how i learned that you could burn traces and really screw some stuff up...
