I don't know what's going on with the spine, but putting serrations out near the point actually makes more sense to me. When you are cutting with a lot of power, you want a straight edge because it's a more effective wedge. When you use the serrations is swiping or sawing, both light and fast movements. It makes sense to me to put the straight edge near the handle because that's where you have the most leverage, and the serrations near the point because that's where you have the most speed.

i finally got around to getting the maxoedition sitka i was wanting. i'm liking it so far but now i need to figure out with what, why, and how i going to pack this sucker. i suspect that in the end i will get something beigger and just leave this as a car go pouch.
