I just saw the OPTIONS: Re: Aim High at the top of this quick reply area and had a flashback to being in the Air Force again! It wasn't all that bad though, thought I was in Japan, GREAT!!!!!

Speaking of being in the Military, I didn't move aound all that much compaired to some, lets see, I was stationed at Reese AFB in Lubbock Texas, Clark Air Base in the Philippines, Mountain Home AFB in Mt. Home Idaho, Sheyma in the Aleutian Islands, Offutt AFB in Omaha Nebraska, Yakota Air Base In Japan (Outskirts of Tokyo) and then for my final 2 1/2 years at Pope AFB next door to Fort Bragg outside Fayetteville North Carolina. That was my 20 years of moving while in the employee of the United States Gumment. Out of all the places I liked Idaho the best and then Japan (for the secret squirrel job I had)hee hee..

I have AMC on the TV here at work and they are playing Movies that Shook the world. They are talking bout The Exorcist. I remember I went to see it in the Philippines and before the movie showed, they had a Catholic Priest (shown as the movie was starting) that is was only a movie and was not real in any way! Thought that was kinda strange, but...Oh well.

I was an army recruiter for 3 years and the air force recruiter was hardly ever there, if he was he was in civilian clothes and would go home at 3 pm. I seen him tell kids to come back and talk to him the next week. The air force can be picky like that cause the were downsizing big time back then. I remember one time he didn't have to put anybody in for 2 months because the air force didn't need new personnel at the time. We would work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week and he would work maybe 12 hours a week.

The AF recruiter here in Brunswick was the same way. Maybe the AF is downsizing now, I don't know. I do know that it gave Bonnie a bad initial impression of the AF. That Army recruiter was on the ball, and he was really trying to sign Bonnie up. I told Bonnie after I made the calls to the Air Force that if they kept putting her off, we would both go down and see what the Army had to offer her. It's a shame some AF recruiters are so darned sorry. The recruiter is the first contact young people have with the military, and if I had not had experience in both branches, I would have thought the AF was a slack and poorly run outfit. Fortunately the recruiter from Savannah helped her out. He is now working both Brunswick and Savannah. The Brunswick recruiter has shipped out and the office is only open once a week when the Savannah recruiter comes down.
Bonnie had put in all her paperwork with the old recruiter and taken a practice test, but we just had to start all over with the Savannah recruiter. Anyway, it's a done deal now, she is in.

Next week I must work on getting my other daughter into "shampoo school" at the new Altamaha Technical College that just opened here. She can take college level courses while still in high school. These girls can sure keep an old man busy.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Here's my progress on my latest knife. These pics are post heat treatment. I still have to grind off the HT scale and finish the blade before putting the handles on. It's 1/8" D2 steel. The pics are a little jaggy from down-sizing the images.
