yea i get that too recon ...... but i never really like case... i had one roll on me while working when i was 15 and got a nasty nasty bite.... and been kinda scared of em or sak.... its gotta have a good lock on it.... my grandpa , and great grandpa both carried the same knife for 30 something years till it was just a nub you couldnt sharpen any more for fear of the knife dissappearing.... i loved em but there kinda useless , also have some bucks from them also in the same condition No locks is the reason I tossed out my Swiss Army when I was a kid. It bit.

I have read (true or not) that the knives they make for WalMart are produced at an overseas factory and are lower quality. I have noticed differences in the packaging depending on where you buy knives.

I was looking at Andy Wayne's kitchen knife pic and thinking how nice some of those look. Remind my of my grandma's knives and how they looked like hey had been around for 50+ years. I want some... Check rummage sales, flea markets, Goodwill (sometimes). I've seen them as cheap as $.10 each. Usually find them most at flea markets and rummage sales.

I checked out a couple bucks from wally world, I wasn't impressed at all, the finish I saw was subpar , hopefully it was just the one they handed me, and not the overall of them

also i couldnt have a 4 inch buck skinner , cause it was a fixed blade... we were hiking.... its what i was taught was a good choice... the reason i had it with me on that one was basicly cause we were going to sharpen knives with a fancy lansky system one of the helpers got .... but they all freaked out ... and i wasnt allowed to play. funny thing was.... the guy demonstating it was hopeless , and wound up having to be driven an hour an a half to get 8 stiches.....

I still have my Grandpa's old Kootchick chef knife that has been steeled so many times it looks like a fillet knife now.

I think I may do that every now and then Andy. I just remember grandma cleaning a catfish it a knife that looked old as dirt bit she was done in seconds. Fish neber knew what hit it. No head and no skin but still wiggling [censored] near right in the skillet.
