I have read good things about the AR-7, and if I ever come across one at a good price I will buy it. I was looking at guns at WalMart, and the ruger 10/22 and Marlin Model 60 were about the same - $217.00 I believe. I know that each rifle has its followers, so I suppose it depends on personal preference.

in a handgun i like the bearcat but it doesn't have a reputation for great accuracy. the firestorm is impossible to find. the kimber is expensive. the u22 is...cool?
i've disassembled the ruger mk2 and it was a pain. u22 is cake. never touched a buckmark but i believe it requires tools. it shouldn't be an issue since cleaning always requires tools anyway.

everyone loves the 10/22 for a million different reasons, but i really like that ar-7. Bah. We have an original one. It sucks. The idea is neat, but it doesn't work that great. Poor sites, jammed a lot, etc. I've heard a lot of people say they thing the Springfield M6 is a better choice. And it's two guns in one! http://www.oldjimbo.com/survival/v-shrake/m6.html

What do you guys think about the new 22 based on the AR15 platform.
I'd just get a cheap AR and a 22 coversion kit myself I think. It would probably run only about $300 or so more to go that route. Maybe more problems though...

i'd choose the 10/22 over the 60 just for the mags. shorter overall length is nice too, i guess.

It is a little bulky for a handgun...cheaper than a class III short barreled 10/22 though. ![[Linked Image from gunblast.com]](http://www.gunblast.com/images/Ruger-22Charger/Thumbs/DSC02464.jpg)

Years ago I bought an old Ruger Mark I luger with a 6 7/8" barrel for my wife. It still performs well, but she would prefer a 4" barrel. Time will tell!
Speaking of time - it's time for me to hit the hay! Catch you later Mag! Good night.

Maybe more problems though... i did some homework on that and from what i can tell, the smith is the best. the colt has "cosmetic only" parts, which i think is completely lame. the forward assist, dust cover, and even the pins are fake. also has a thinner barrel and requires tools for disassembly. i don't like the ruger. it's just a 10/22 in a ninja suit yet it's the same price as the heavy barrel smith which includes a 25 rd mag.

Night PK...
I'm still thinking about getting the Grendel. The spare magazines will run you a stupid amount though and there are no parts to be found. I've seen Grendel magazines for $100-$135 each.
