Popped out for a sec... Mag I listened a few times and I hear the potential. I'm not a judge of genres or styles because I love music but I can knit pick the hell out of a recording. I hear things I like and some I don't. What I do hear is a direction. I'll knit pick it to bits though to refine and define the direction. I'm actually pretty brutal with my opinions. If you sucked i would've said check your PM. I'd rather be the guy who thought you sucked when you didn't than the guy who said you where good when you wern't.
My first impression was from the levels though.. The snare is usually the measuring stick I use. Doesn't work for all styles but i think it's a good starting point.

i suck at recording and mastering. mic placement, amp volume, input volume, and levels are a pain. as for the snare, i'm using apple loops (crap!) and i'd kill for a real drummer and producer.

or i guess you mean in the little green/red bar that shows when i'm clipping, the snare should be somewhere high in the green and everything else should float around the same level?
