First off is performance... Singing louder is not always "singing better". Same thing with playing. Some people think that the louder and harder they perform the better. Control is first... Self control is the best we still have the police. That would be a properly set compressor. If you can't stay within the bounds the the compressor will keep you confined within the limits you set.
All that to say... Sing and play it right and set a compressor to keep it that way.
I compress vocals with hardware on the way in but you can assign a software compressor to your inputs in GB. i use the compressor in garage band sometimes. lately i've been trying to avoid it. used to use it all the time, before even listening, and reverb would always be at 12%. just my formula, at that time. i can't get certain tones or notes without getting loud or quiet. singing's not really my craft, but i'm working on that.

Mag missed the songs but would be willing to give my honest opinion on future ones. My taste may not be that good though (was at a Misfits concert last week)

Was a good and bad evening for me today. A bit of background and then my latest post on it. I managed to find an old Lincoln IdealArc AC/DC 250 welder. Real nice unit, extremely heavy duty and built like a tank. Been wanting a stick welder for a while, and lucked in to this unit. Got it for a song as an "as is where is" type deal. Believed to be working through.
Managed to get the beast home and unloaded (thank you engine hoist!). Was feeling way too lucky when I found an unused 60 amp circuit in the basement that terminated in a junction box & second breaker & a hole already drilled into the garage. Ran the cabling for the last stretch (seller included about 30 or 40 feet of armored, rubber coated wire), checked all the connections and threw the breakers.
Wandered out to the garage, admired my new addition and threw the power switch... NOTHING! Well crap. Grabbed the multimeter and went to the last junction box before the welder. Hot to hot showed a whopping 0v. Each hot to neutral showed the same. Went to the main breaker box and measured between both rails. 0v again. each rail to neutral was again 0v. Looks like the owner started to have the house rewired to replace the old cloth wiring and never bothering finishing or having the new breaker box wired in!
No fun tonight, however since there is wiring coming in from outside to the breaker box I am gonna call a favor in. I have a buddy who works with the local electrical company. Gonna see if he can look outside and see how much work it will be to wire the box in. I am hoping that everything is ready and that the meter just needed to be pulled in order to safely wire the last up.
Hopefully by next week I'll be wasting some rods and grinning from ear to ear!

there was a time when it didn't matter what industry you were talking about, but if a product was american, it was the best. First Canadian business was a beer brewery in New France (Quebec) Historically Canadians don't like American beer, yet most of us managed to get pi$$ed on it at least once or twice
