So then what would possess someone to buy a 3" knife like a Game Warden for $200.00 or more? I'm not trying to make anybody wrong for doing that, of course. What people buy with their own money is their own business. I also realize that Game Wardens are beautiful knives and they possess the INFI mystique. But would anyone other than a person with a very large knife budget ever use one? Or are they pretty much meant to be collectibles?

It seems quite a few folks EDC the Game Warden. Once you've decided to EDC a small fixed blade the leap to paying for "indestructible" is small. If you're going to open paint cans or cut drywall, the GW is probably a terrific choice.

For EDC I'm a folder guy and the blades are generally around 3".

why buy a bmw when a civic will give you 100k miles with nothing more than fuel and oil changes? a busse is still a good investment as it will appreciate in value so for the money you're gettin more than just a knife. one reason you should never feel guilty about gettin a new busse, you're really not losing anything.

Great observations, Vic. I too would not pay $200 for a 3" knife. And I agree that an $18 machete and a Gerber axe would do everything your expensive choppers do. But I disagree that things are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them. For example, do you happen to remember the pet rock craze?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet_rock
It is a market theory of value. At the time of the pet rock purchases, some people paid what they did for them because they would rather have the rocks than their money. A Busse is not a bad investment, unlike the pet rocks. It has intrinsic value, like silver or gold. Fine things always do. But they are still only worth whatever the market determines.

That's for sure. There's no way to compare a Busse knife . . . any Busse knife . . . to a pet rock! And I sure hope I didn't give anyone the impression that I was doing that. I just wonder how many people would actually EDC a knife as expensive as a GW. If I owned one, I doubt I could bring myself to EDC it, especially when a less-costly knife would do a credible job of opening paint cans and cutting dry wall.

Uhm, I edc a Heavy Duty and a Custom Shop Active Duty. An Assault Shaker is part of my rotation, so is a Meaner Street. Every now and then an A2 Mean Street gets in there. A Game Warden would be on the cheap side of my rotation. I dont make six figures a year, heck I'm lucky to top five. But I decided a looong time ago that I didnt want just "Good Enough" a Civic is good for some, but I want someting that wont wad up like tin foil if I take it after a piece of concrete. Just because I'm not rich doesnt mean I have to settle for cheap. The SRKW stuff is not even close to good enough, its way over the top, and thats where it needs to be.

bld522,
are You the one who's been tossing that Black Crinkle Tiger Warden back & forth out of your Cart at the BCS this morning?!

You need a push, right? LOL

Is it sheer Coincidence that $69 x 3 = $207 ??
(msrp Mutt vs msrp Black Tiger Warden)

Busse's DO appreciate $$ !
That's quite amazing.. i've never seen production knives do that.

I would go so far as to say that Busse knives will replace Randalls' as the next collectable knife family. Randall's have a lot of appeal to us old farts but do nothing for the next generation of young knife collectors. Busse's actually span both age groups.

All is Karnack's opinion, of course.
