After that I was stationed at Shemya AFB in the Aleutians for a year, then I was in Omaha at Offutt AFB for 5 1/2 years.

it was Junior ROTC, so just a 4 year program in high school, no commitment of service, but you did have a choice. my commanding officer continued and went onto West Point, he's doing real good now. We competed against other schools, my school was Army. I was in Drill Team with Arms, where you march and spin rifles.

From that I went to japan for four years, I call that My secret squirrel years, I worked in a Scif (Secure Information Facility).

We had to go down the stairs in the Hq building, through a secure GUARDED door, down a hallway and through another secure door

why is called secret squirrel years?

down another hallway then through a Bank vault door (honest, had the big combo lock and everything) and into the office. You know how the military is, overdoing everyghing.

Just an inside joke. If ALL you had was a Top Secret Clearance we had to take things off the walls so you couldn't see it. As I said typical government over reactions.

And I forgot the time when I was TDY in Korea I had gone into a bar to listen to Koreans Sing Country Western Music. OH MAN, don't ask, lets just say I'm glad I was drunk. Any, when I left and walked outside I had forgotten where I was. I stopped an old Korean man and asked him which way the base was and he just pointed to the left. YUP, there 1/2 block away was the main gate that I did not see when I walked (staggered) out.

oh yeah almost forgot, at x-mas in the park, they have this really good hot chocolate and fresh fried potato chips, we get it every year. this year after the park, we went to a nearby restaurant/bar for happy hour food and drinks. i got this beer brewed from san francisco and ate mussel and bbq pulled pork

Sounds really good. A lot of times we forget the "simpler" things are those that are the best.
