Just looked at the grill again. Looks like it may be gas on one side and wood or charcoal on the other. Is this right?

Yup... One side is gas the other charcoal. And on the end is a smoker. On one end the smoker that you can see and the other end is a gas stove top burner. I want to get here going full tilt but they will never have enough people over for that much grill action.

Ya mean the small end (on the right) is a smoker? I thought it was for indirect heat.

I pretty close to 3k right now. I was tempted to make a run for the gold patch but figured I would be too busy with the holidays.

I hear that. Late last summer we bought an electric grill, kettle type about a foot and a half across. I LIKE IT. Yeah I know, you purists will hate it, but I've never gotten that much into grilling. And just for the wife and I or even 4 or 5 folks, it works good. AND I can put it in the garage in the winter and use it!

I had thought about that myself, but I think we have past the deadline AND I don't know If we would qualify for a SECOND patch. Hey, I'm satisfied with my regular one. It is unique to the knife world.

Man O man, the rain is playing havoc with the e911 system. condensation gets into the phone lines causing static which triggers the 911 system. BUT we have learned over the years (most of the time) when it's weather related. I hate to call out someone from home just for a bogus weather related call.

If some weird tornados or hurricanes or something pop up we just toss stuff on the grill. We did that with the old grill during Katrina and also after some pretty bad tornados. Both knocked the power out long enough that we had to dispose of some food. The gas and charcoal came in real hand.
