Heck, I have an extra Aimpoint sitting in the parts box that would make that a great GG setup.

I didn't think I would like a traditional lever action with a rail on it and laminate stock etc.
However I got to handle and sbl today and compare it with the timber. Gotta say I like it.
The timber is a collectors item as it was only made for 2 years, but mine has been used moose hunting up in grizzly country and it is well cared for but used.
My timber works flawlessly with the hornady ammuntition, but the horandy leverultion ammo with the balistic tip jams in it every once in a while. I'll take the shorter range with perfect reliability anyday.
The marlin is designed to use the ballistic tips so it shouldn't be a problem.
Hornady's hot loaded 45/70 rounds are right there with 450 rounds in terms of velocity and energy when comparing similiar grained bullets, plus 45/70 can be found in more areas

What M1A are you looking for? When I sold my SOCOM I kept the stock, hg, and brl mt. That way if I ever decided to scout my standard I had the parts. Now, if you are not set on the shorter brl I do have those parts to make a scout type rifle. Do any of you guys hunt with an M1 at all? Taken pigs, yotes, wild dogs, a skunk, and armadillo. No deer yet.
