All I can say is I still got it (bought it in 1974) and it's straight. Not the BEST edge holder in the world, but all I ever cut with it was the really soft stuff. Now the Bolo, I have used it for EVERYTHING and It also has held up well, bought it also in 1974 again, not the best edge holder, but I have sharpened it on a piece of concrete lubed with water.

Ok. They (the local constabulary) stated a group in the housing area I lived in off base. Don't remember how to spell the group, so I'll just call it a MANNED neighbourhood watch. They took the names of all the males in the subdivision that were over 18 and made up a roster. I, of course was exempt because I was not a national (foreigner).

As said, a foreigner or "Round eye". Well being the Good neighbor that I was I was not willing to accept this LIMITATION. I thought that since I lived there I should help guard the place. I was told NO and that If I was found out after curfew again (I had been in the rotation, once a week for about a month) I would be going to jail. I DID NOT WANT THIS. So I stopped.

Well about 2 weeks later one night someone tried to break into our house. I did not think this was appropriate behavior and intended to let the intruder know. I grabbed the sword (mentioned above, having a 2 foot blade and about a 14 inch handle) throw open the door and caught a glimpse of the little twerp jumping over the fence.

In My best friendly manner loudly asked him to please stop so we could talk about this problem he seemed to have as I was jumping over the fence with my weapon held high (I didn't want anyone to get hurt at this point of course). Now you have got to know I was a lot younger then, something well OK I was 21. 21. Anyway, My mother-in-law at the time had made me a pair of the loudest pajama bottoms you have ever seen. BRIGHT yellow with black and red stripes running diagonally throughout the material. Oh I was shirtless as well.

ANYWAY, I chased him down 2 blocks where he rounded a corner and jumped into someone else's yard. JUST as I was about to also jump into the hard after him, screaming unprintable words for him to stop, here comes a jeep load of the local cops! Now you gotta remember I am an American, at 2AM, running down the street waiving a shiney 2 foot long sword screaming for this philippino to stop or I was gonna make him into a Billy Boy real quick.

I have a great visual of a giant American ( I assume you were taller than most of the locals) yelling and chasing after some guy in crazy pants with a sword over this head, LOL

YUP you got it perfect! Anyway, they heard and saw me, they yelled, I FINALLY saw them(and the m16's pointed at me) and quite suddenly stopped. And of course when I did, my arms (including the sword) swung crazily in the air. I FROZE!

They jumped out screaming for me to drop my weapon! I complied with their wishes as rapidly as I could. Well Just as they surrounded me and was escorting me to the jeep the CIVILIAN head of the watch program came upon us. Thank goodness he knew and liked me. Lets just say when I told him why I was going what I was, they just told mt to take my nice long shiny sharp sword and go home AND STAY THERE!!

Then next day, My First Sgt made sure I understood I was NOT to chase a burgler down the street any more.

And I of course, being the good little 2 striper I was complied with my First shirts request!

You should have sued them ( the watch) for discriminating against you for your ethnicity. Oh wait, you can only do that kinda stuff in the US

DAng, can't count I guess, I'm or at least was until this post, 1 short of 2300.

You just have to make sure you catch them in your house or at least your own yard, don't wanna get blood everywhere
