Actually, the 9" bowie is fairly easy to carry. The blade is very light (forged) so it is comfortable. i do take it off if sitting in car, etc. The 6" version was obtained for that reason. I often have forgotten that I was carrying the 6", it is so unobrusive. The 9" is more of a 'special occasion' carry. same here, i can forget i have my Scrapper6 -- my Ranger RD7 bowie variant has become my new "special occasion" carry piece -- i like that, "special occasion" -- sort of says it all...
We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

Indiana's carry laws DO make it an attractive state for those so inclined, and I don't think the weather is too bad. Do you get much "lake effect" snow, or are you far enough away? All in all, I think you're in a pretty nice area. Tom We don't get that much snow. We have friends that live in Detroit. Sometimes in the winter they'll call us and say they have several feet of snow, and we usually only have a few inches. Last year the most snow we had was like 6-8 inches. Some areas it will drift bad if the wind is blowing because so many empty fields with no windbreak, sometimes the roads will try to blow shut in the country. Not a problem in the city though. My Dad has a couple duce-and-a-halfs, and he bought a huge V plow at a city auction. I keep telling him if he puts it on one of the 6x6s, we wouldn't have to worry about getting snowed in. He also had a jet engine. I said he should mount it in the back of the 6x6. That way if you DID get stuck, you could melt your way out.

Wow Andy! You could have a jet-powered snow plow! And they thought the "muscle cars" of the 60's were something! Plus, you could plow the roads for the Township, thereby enabling you to buy more Yard knives. Opportunity knocks!

Sounds like he is going the snow-plow route, or taking one more big step in preparedness planning. Those things could haul a lot of items as well as traverse rough ground, etc.

Just the right kind of vehicle to "bug out" if the SHTF.

Sounds like he is going the snow-plow route, or taking one more big step in preparedness planning. Those things could haul a lot of items as well as traverse rough ground, etc. Actually, we have two of them, and a spare frame. He got a deal on them. They're both from the 50's, one is gas and the other is diesel. They need some work, I'll post a pic below. He was going to fix them up eventually for a good "bug out" truck, or use in winter if we had another blizzard or something. The jet engine he bought cause he was thinking of building a dragster or something. He was thinking of putting it in a Fiereo. The guy he bought it from had it mounted on a boat. After he bought it he found out it didn't have enough thrust for a dragster. They're usually 10,000+ lbs of thrust, and this one is only like 2,000. It's a Ryan Firebee, and I think it's the engine off a missle or something.
