I was stationed in Fayetteville (Pope AFB) for 2 1/2 years and only got back here to Missouri Once on leave. And that was only about 900 miles. I got off work at 7 one morning and drove straight through. I was MUCH younger though and it didn't hurt like it would now.

local store was running a special on canada dry, a&w root beer, sun drop, and cheerwine cans. so i had to pick a couple up. case you are wondering sun drop is the local version of mt. dew, mello yellow, and cheerwine is sort've like cherry soda, but not. their kind've north carolina things, if i moved i would have to have someone ship me cheerwine every couple of months.

I've seen people at 7,000 feet drop to their knees and barf, people at 8,000 feet get pounding headaches, and people at 11,000 feet go nuts – but I've always adjusted to higher altitudes easily.

I don'r recall Sun Drop nor Cheerwine from my time in NC – but I pretty much don't drink pop, so I wouldn't have noticed.

My ex-fiancée used to ship some local soda – I forget what it was called – to friends who couldn't get it where they were.

The name of that soft drink she'd ship was Moxie.

sun drop, cheerwine, rc cola, are all made by the same company. you could tell the rednecks by the rc cola and moonpies, while the more civilized would have a coke and a ding dong

I don't remember those brands either. Evo, once whey I was just a Wee lad of between 9 and 11 years old we drove to the top of Pikes Peak. I, being a kid, took off running! Didn't get to far before I was bent over trying to breath. Needless to say I didn't run up there for the remainder of our stay at the top.

Hehe, I remember as a kid growing up, my Dad would take a thermos of coffee (this was before Mr. coffee). He would also take a Moonpie for a mid morning snack.
