Gotcha- no biggie-I just think all your photos are great <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Thanks!

Ted takes great knife pictures.

You know who else is a good knife photographer? Jerry Busse. The man knows how to wield a 4x5, in the name of showing his knives to their best.

I need a new pair of hiking boots. Its going to cost me.

Perhaps you can get your boots resoled, for less?

I have had them resoled before and they are at least 8 years old. They are done. They have alot of miles on them. I always buy quality but its nearly impossible to find a set of boots with a truly replacable sole. I was really unhappy with the job they did the last time.

I'll probably spring for another set of Asolo's but I wish they had sew on soles instead of the glue on/ bonded stuff.

I don't have much experience with hiking boots, nor much I can relate to.

I'm a barefooter.

My wife used to be a wildlife photographer. Its hard to compete with the currently popular wildlife photographers that stage their photos. Everything she did was 100% legit.

I lost a lot of respect for some of the most popular photographers when I found out how they really got those great shots.

Yes, Monk.

There's a lot of baiting, a lot of usage of captive game farm animals, and a lot of Photoshoppery that I have to compete with.

It's hard, because I do wild, natural, real stuff. I like to imagine that vision will outcompete trickery, despite their attempt to make the field uneven.

Time will tell.

Yup. most of what you see in books, magazines, TV, etc, is fake, to some degree.

I think Marty Stouffers mistakes have made it a bit better. AT least brought it into the light. i always took him as legit and was amazed at the way he could get some impossible shots. Then realized what he really was.

I have always been responsible for getting her to the animals and she got the shots. As you know long, cold wet days that may or may not pay off.

She still does it just no longer sells anything or even display it in a gallery. The house is full. I'm just glad I don't have to cut mats anymore. I never liked doing it.

ouch. just came back in from the garage work out.

so figured out why i was having problems benching wends. i was suppose to have (2) 45 pound plates on and (1) 5 pound plate on each side. was having a real hard time getting the right arm up. so i said the heck with it and didn't break the barbell down and forgot about it.

went to set everything up tonite and took the 5 pound plate off the the left arm side, and when over the right arm side and found out i had a 10 pound plate on there instead.....d'uh!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of Marty, I don't think people realize how much of what they are seeing in wildlife documentaries on TV is "Hollywood".

When you see footage of a bear walking through the snow hundreds of yards off, and you can hear the footsteps – guess what? A foley made those sounds, and added them in, in a studio. When you see any kind of narrative like –

Footage of a prairie dog looking out of a hole
The footage of a prairie dog scampering around
Then footage of a hawk flying overhead
Then footage of a prairie dog looking up
Then footage of a prairie dog running back into the hole

–I don't think most people watching those documentaries realize that, most of the time, those were unrelated pieces of footage, put together in an orderly way in a studio, to make it look like they had a narrative structure.

So much of what you see in both still photography and motion picture/video wildlife photography is not what is appears.

It's scandalous.
