Well...Fender does a line of guitars where they beat up new guitars to look old and vintage. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
Maybe you are on to something... fender is unrepresented in my guitar collection and if i was smarter i'd just get a strat right now. sadly, i just have to have humbuckers. and my ibanez with the coil taps is pretty close, tone wise.

kind've like the kids' fashions with the pre ripped jeans, in my day it took me years to wear wholes in my jeans When you do the damage, yourself, to your camera or guitar, or jeans, then every bit of cosmetic damage brings back memories and the story of where/when/why/how it happened. Such is not the case, when you buy new jeans that are made to look old. For me, it's not a fashion fetish, it just has to do with the memories and sentiments.

I have always leaned towards the telecasters myself. I have no idea why but there was one really caught my eye once. If I could play I would probably own a few guitars.
