Well ... I would've rather she learned, righted her wrongs, fixed the errors of her ways, and became a better person, instead of perpetuating misery and suffering for herself and others.

Like My first marriage. SHE could have had a good life. But I told her if she wanted to continue "Running around" and messing with drugs she could do it without my name. She didn't think I was serious until she got served with the papers and thrown off the base. She didn't even want custody of HER son!

Now my brother has a wonderful girlfriend/significant other, I'm happy to say.

I think he had to learn the hard way to pick someone and get seriously involved for love, not out of fear.

My ex was, and still is, a splendid person. We had to end it for reasons that had nothing to do with lack of love. We're still very close friends.

Yeah, I was sorry as well (at the time). But as you said, if it hadn't happened Patty and I wouldn't be together now. And a the old saying goes, I'd die to keep her safe.
