Well I'm not sure if it is the proper way or not, but she uses her right hand along the side and presses the shutter button with her pointer finger and she cradles the lens, sort of cups it in her left hand with her wrist angled out to the left on the bottom. (did i explain this right)?

well that sucked...went outside to grab a beer and forgot to close my car door for the past 5hrs...battery was dead...had to jump it in the pouring rain then did a few loops around the hood...glad i bought jump cables a few months back!

That's the correct way to hold the camera, unless she is using a long lens and extra stability. Also, you don't hunch forward and hold the camera outside of your center of gravity – you twist to the side a bit, to keep it in line with your body, stable and balanced.
