Well, we all knew it was only a matter of time...Here is what this administration is now considering, regarding our 2nd amendment right: HR45 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

The bill was introduced by Bobby Rush, an Illinois representative who has served since 1993. He tried to introduce a similar version of the same bill in 2007, and it failed. This current bill doesn't have a single co-sponsor, and will most likely die in committee without ever being brought up for a vote in front of the entire House.
Even people in charge of pro-gun activist groups think this bill has a snowball's chance in hell of passing, and aren't concerned about it.
There will always be people like Bobby Rush, building political capital by tugging at the heart strings and attaching a child's name to a bill. It's a publicity stunt and has absolutely NOTHING to do with the current administration - he tried it before Obama was in office, and he failed then, too.

Ridiculous! To think these guys actually get paid to try and take away our freedoms. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Except your freedom won't be taken away. This bill failed the last time he tried it, and it will fail again this time.
The guy who sponsored this bill probably even knows it will fail. And when it fails, he gets to go to his poor inner city constituents, and tell them how the federal government doesn't care about their plight, and how Washington neglects the poor, and how the gang violence they face daily is the fault of whoever is running against him the next time he's up for election.
It's a political stunt, and it will probably be very successful in that respect, but it won't result in a loss of your freedoms.
Edit: And he's a scumbag for USING this political stunt, and especially for using the name of a little kid who died to further his own career. But your guns are pretty safe, so no need to flip out.

Hope you are correct MM. I understand why it didn't pass in the Bush administration but we are in a different ballgame now sir. The NRA seems concerned about it which doesn't give me any warm fuzzies. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'll bet you a big hunk of INFI this never even comes up for a vote in the House, let alone comes anywhere close to passing.

I can't afford to buy my own Infi, much less buy some for you <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> But I do hope that you are correct on this. I don't put anything past these guys - they're still working on re-defining what a switchblade is....Wonder how that is going? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Scumbag introducing scumbag legislation. As long as he is introducing stuff that gets shot down he will hold his voters vote. I was going to say a lot more, but no use getting myself all worked up right now.

They all have to have SOMETHING to pad their resumes even if they know that it won't ever get passed.

The people that introduce things like this are actually enemies of this country. Any person that tries to take away our rights is a criminal in my eyes. The use of firearms helped build this country in a GOOD way. Used to gather game, and protection from foreign enemies. A firearm is just a tool. You could kill a person just as easy with an edged weapon, a baseball bat, or a hammer. How about shoving an ear of corn down somebody's throat.....then what.....outlaw corn? Bashing firearms is an easy way to make waves...thats why these people use this angle to run their filthy suckholes.
If you are going through Hell.....Keep going! Winston Churchill.
