i have mixed feelings about this one...
don't understand the reasoning of letting these puppies go into the ganza only to have half or more of them show back up in the secondary market at inflated mark ups.

It's easy to understand: they're a company, they sell product. The faster you can sell it the better. Secondary price gouging and the "games" that somebody described being played in order to bump people out of the race are completely irrelevant to the goal of the manufacturer selling knives.

Easy to understand. Hard to like.

i understand that reasoning momaw, except they would sell out all of their product either way. They won't make more money selling it through a ganza, it will just to go less loyal customers.

But they aren't just any old company selling product. Jerry encourages and clearly enjoys the games - you could make a strong argument that a lot of the community and fanbase he's built around his knives and his company is due to those games. The theatrics of a ganzaa or the trough at BLADE are an integral part of the goal of the manufacturer selling knives, when the manufacturer is one that is as unique as Busse.

I'd still rather see the Dogs get first crack at the dogfathers, as well, but I understand and have even come to enjoy the insanity of the trough and hog treachery.

I do prefer the environment we have here at the Yard, where there's less competition and more supporting each other, which is why I'll always consider myself a Dog first, but those Hogs sure have a lot of fun doing things their way.

I'm hoping a Dog will get a chance at a few of the dogfathers in the ganzaa, and pass them along at cost to other members of the Yard, much like I did with the SOD I picked up at BLADE - and that's not me bragging about doing something nice, that's me remembering my own efforts to mimic the kindness and generosity I've seen displayed time and time again by the awesome brothers here in the Yard. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Bah, the ganzas are a blast!! I miss the old style of selling Scrapyards. The new method doesn't get the adrenaline going and is pretty boring. I've always gotten the knife I was going for in a ganza(even when I really couldn't afford to) Heck, the guy who won the last big #1 knife got it from his iPhone in an area with a bad connection.

Donning flame suit now....

Don't forget we(dawgs) got most of the MOD 7's that were part of the ganza(Jim has over 10% of all MOD's available to the public)

To each their own Ted.

I prefer the new style of buying.

I am not interested in getting caught up in HYPE about MUST do THIS NOW or MISS OUT.

The guy with the iPhone got lucky - period. And not everyone has iPhones. Further, not everyone can sit around a computer for Jerry's schedule.

The fact that you can is great for you. I have been able to on many occassions, but I would rather not dictate my schedule to it other peoples schedules. I would rather have my schedule flexible to my needs and not HAVE to prioritized sitting and waiting for a Ganzaaa when I could be doing other things. And there HAVE been times when I have needed to work and just could not participate.

I would rather focus on the values of the KNIVES than play Go-Go games!

That said, if the primary releases are sold as they have been via orders (S5CG, M9LE, Waki and similar), I am fine with an occassional Ganzaaa for "Unique" and limited items. Just not for standard items.

All of the Fatty's are fine fodder for a Ganzaaa.... I have no interest.
Throw the "overly fat" Hack's in there as well.

I would like to see the Hack with thinner blade and less belly. If thinner, it would probably be one of the best small Busse knives ever. 0.15" thick would be great.

But, personally I feel the Vex and Desert DF should be sold via open buying/ordering..... Maybe Jerry will do so after he has had his fun with his Ganzaaa (?????) - But, you never know though. So, those who miss out will be frustrated one way or another.

I already have a Vex. I HIGHLY recommend the VEX!!!

I already have a DFLE and a Battle Rat and since funds are very tight for me and since I have purchase so many knives recently in spite of this, I will pass on the tan DF and the whole Ganzaaa. I don't really care for the tan Res-C anyway. And I am relieved that none of the other blades fit my needs or desires at this time.

In any event, I know a lot of people have wanted a DF. Here is a good chance that may or may not ever come again (????)

.

Needless to say, I am one of those people who wants a DF very badly and I will be trying very hard to get accepted in this event <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I think the biggest point of weirdness is that ganzaa is set up to be highly competitive and time limited, like an auction, but the product in question goes for a fixed and reasonable price. Then everybody who gets in buys a half dozen and sells them at 100% markup. Either make enough that you can sell them at the proper price, or hold a REAL auction where they are sold at whatever price the market will bear (which would make more money for the Busses anyway).

It's all good folks. Dog Bowls- Ganzas- releases - who cares <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. When the Reg was released at Blade quite a few folks were ticked off and I sure wasn't real happy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> But- the great folks at the yard made them availible to all at a great price so I picked some up and am VERY pleased <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. Even a better color IMO <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. So- let's all enjoy the Ganza as it is one hell of a great time and also wait for some new steel and just purely enjoy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> !! Let the good tmes roll <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />-Thanks

I just look at the ganzas as a safety valve to keep me from spending to much money. If everything was easy to get I'd have every Busse ever offered. I have been lucky enough to get every knife I've gone for, but I have sat some out just because I didn't have the time or means to order when the ganza was on. I don't seem to have suffered for missing out on a whole bunch of knives, but it does add excitement for what is otherwise a pretty mundane purchase. You'll see the same mentality in the HI forum with the DOTD and you CAN buy their knives at anytime, but the DOTD makes it fun to compete.
