I really like the ResC for hard use...

I like the feel of my Micarta and G10 better, but that stinging in the hand from chopping makes me favor the Dogfather if I know I'm going to do a lot of chopping.

Its always a dillema for me to decide what knife to take with me... every time I have to sit and think about it!

Dice - How is G10 on a fixed blade chopper such as your blue RD Rangers? I love G10 for folders, but it gets slippery when wet, which could be a problem for a chopper.

Don't have too much experience w/ G10 I guess - its not as grippy as micarta - but the shape of the Ranger handle and the CGFBM handle won't let it slip out the front of your hand even if it was slippery - they both have a substantial pommel.

I like the looks of G10 better for sure.

Overall I really like G10 I guess. I'm not very good w/ "on the spot" responses, but I love my pair of matching Rangers - the grips feel real nice - and the CGFBM has an awesome set of G10 mag grips, but I haven't chopped with it yet.

I don't have enough chopping experience to choose a favorite as of yet though. I've only been chopping w/ the RD9/DF once. I'm taking them both with me fishing tomorrow, so I'll have more to report then.

CGFBM is heavier - no doubt. They've both got the same forwards "weighty" feel when you do some air chopping, but the CGFBM has a lot more weight on the grip side, and is a little more evenly balanced.

I don't know about chopping w/ the DM. My RD7 is a lousy chopper, but the RD9 does great. I suspect it'll be the same between the DF and the DM.

The DF is said to have more of a Khukri - forward balanced feel to it. I like it. But I'd lobe an FBM as well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Dice that was a great response. Sorry for putting you on the spot, I am just being conversational. I am still thinking of e-mail Justin for some G-10 grips for my RD7.

The DF is no doubt going to be my main chopper. I love my RD9 and will definately bring the two as a pair when I go out for any extended hikes or camping. You never know when a blade could fail I guess, even as tough as they both are. The RD9 would be a lot better for vegitation and stuff as well (but not as good as my RTAK II - that thing is a giant razor!)

I see the Mutt as a potential "Jack of All" type blade. Not too job specific but good at just about everything. Perhaps one of those "If I could only take one knife with me" deals.
