Very interesting Jim. A good bit of info behind the Busse clan. The folder is a unique design- but if someone had an agreement not to sell- by Gawd they should stick with it

I like my Scrappers, especially the mudder handled ones, but there are already some superb folders on the market. I can't imagine Busse making folders that are substantially better than Benchmade, Spyderco, ZT, or the other good makers. It's what they do. Busse group does super rugged fixed blades better than anyone.

Vic is right.. you wont find a better folder than the Spyderco Endura. I carry 2 of them in the field everyday, all the time.. even when im on pass and out off post. as for fixed blades, no one makes anything that comes close to the Busse group... SY, BC, or SR. they are all top notch.

you can actually carry some of the smaller busse kin knives in the pocket or on the belt with the right rig. see Jeff for this. i carry my DMCG with me everyday in the field as well and it rides on my hip in a kydex sheath from Jeff and its virtually forgotten about when im working.

Have you tried the Waved one? I have one (& waved Delica) and I love them. I also have a ZDP-189 Endura. I think I like VG-10 better, it's easier to sharpen. Ladybugs are GREAT too, I have several...couple orange ones, purple one, couple black ones, and a stainless one. Now I want a yellow one & green one.

I was carrying my Endura all the time, but since I got it I've been carrying my Benchmade Mini Griptilian (Yellow 556) instead. I really like it. Now I want a full size one too.

Just get a Benchmade and stick with Bussekin fixed blades IMO-

The Endura is certainly a classic folder, and one of my favorites, but I'm very surprised it's YOUR favorite....

After all, you seem to value toughness and lateral strength so heavily with your fixed blades, and the endura is definitely NOT known for its lateral strength and toughness. In fact, that long, skinny tip is LEGENDARY for breaking under moderate loads.

I've broken two endura tips myself, and seen a couple more break in daily use. I used to be part of a theater/tech crew, and almost every guy on that crew carried an endura, even after we started breaking them

Ya, you’d think he’d be a Extrema Ratio RAO kinda guy…

Mine are Endura fours. Have you checked one of them out? I heard it’s thicker than the earlier thin tip ones. I’ve not had any problems with any of mine.

Try ordering the S5LE which appears to still be available.
http://shop.scrapyardknives.com/category.sc?categoryId=4

It will work for skinning and camp.

There will probably be some Desert Dog Fathers on the secondary market soon for the chopper category, but they are selling for more than $200. I might be willing to let one of mine go. I'll PM you when I receive them.

Or try ordering a Swamp Rat Rodent Waki:

I'd pick a Spyderco Pacific Salt for a folder, or the Salt I if you want a shorter blade. These are great rust-proof, lightweight pocket knives. Spyderco should offer them in more colors. http://spyderco.com/catalog/list.php?blade=H-1&offset=11&per_page=10
