Another thought on this thread. Not trying to hijack so disreagrd if off topic. I notice that many guys don't add things like asprin -ibuprofen - painkillers- stuff for flu etc ? Even things for stomach ache etc I think should be added. I spoke at length with Jimmie ( Tolly) due to his extensive military background and he agreed big time that all kits should have items like this. Even small suture kits. ( sorry for lousy spelling guys) Any other thoughts on this ? Thank You

Don't worry about it! You have a very good point. My personal PSK is also my FAK and has all that jazz. But this was not intended to replace a proper FAK for my brother. He should carry one in addition. Or he could add whatever items he wanted (there's plenty of room left in that pouch).

Great thoughts though!

A good container for the cotton balls is a film roll canister, or a diabetic test strip container.

Here is a link to the cheapie trash bags I was talking about. I think they are actually used by the road dept in Colorado. Just cut a place for your arms and head and you are wind and water proof pretty much . http://www.outdoorsafe.com/index.htm -Luck

ACE Hardware carries WRAP’S Trash Bags. They are heavy duty and bright yellow. Five 36” X 60” bags will cost about $7.00.

Pain pills are good. I also carry anti diarrhea pills. Getting sick or just a sever change in what you’re eating can upset the old GI tract. Diarrhea dehydrates you. If you are short of potable water, it can help kill you. Besides that, it’s just not something I want to deal with during an emergency.

OK, I've got my First Aid kit (I think) done. Here's the list

Several band-aids, assorted sizes.
antibactrial ointment, tylenol, benedryl and sudafed pills, also immodium.
and some hi-power sinus meds (or so the package says). otc stuff.
3 pair rubber gloves
roll of gauze and about 30 2x2 inch gauze pads.
a roll of medical tape and tweezers, a magnifier and a syringe (body only) to wash out any cuts).
a razor knife (about 2 inches long)and fingernail clippers.
a pair of hemostats (don't really know why, I just had a pair) and an Arc aaa LED flashlight.
I've also got 8 alcohol wipes and 8 iodine prep pads.
I plan on getting some burn gel (probably Burnaid), as it was the hightst rated on some research I found on the 3 largest sellers.

Any OBVIOUS omissions that I should include? I've got it in a Pelican 1050 case and still have some room. I also velcroed another smaller case, (about 5x3x1 1/2 inch)to the top and that has the gloves and individual compartments for the meds (they are all in bubble packs).

Consider a Cinch Tight bandage. It’s a U. S. Military current issue battle dressing. You want it for big wounds. It handles multiple types of trauma, including being a tourniquet. It can be applied and tightened with one hand. It is vacuum packed to take up the least possible space.
