Jerry posted the contest below and I have talked to a few of "my girls" at the Busse shop and they are thinking about doing a Scrap Yard Knife for the contest. If you have any ideas let me know so that I can pass them on! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
We divided our production team into 4 different teams. These teams will each have 2 leaders. They will be making a design of their choosing and these designs will be posted as a special offer. The team that has the biggest hit will win a valuable prize!!!! If a group uses your suggestion, you will receive a free knife from that offer!!!!! These can be modified versions of past designs or entirely new ideas!!!! The first one to suggest the idea that inspires the team's design will be the winner. . . . There are 4 teams and therefore, 4 chances at winning. If a team uses a design that has not been suggested, then NO prize will be awarded. Each team will decide whose post inspired them the most and will pick their own design winner.
All 4 lines of Busse Kin Blades Are Qualified for this competition. Here are the 4 lines . . . .
Busse Combat Busse Custom Shop Swamp Rat Scrap Yard
NO DRAWINGS or PhotoShop Pics!!!! . . . They will be deleted!!!!. . . Written descriptions only!!!!!
They're gonna need your help, so tell 'em what you want and encourage them to bring it!!!!
Good luck to all who participate. . . .
Jerry
Here are the Team Names and their respective leaders. . . .
Super Amy & Little Boy Wonder. . . . Amy-0 and Beef
Kong & The Tooga Tot . . . . Lora and Josh
Captain Cabo & The Hill Stick Kid . . . . Garth and Ron
Under The Radar . . . . Kendra and Bubble (No one over 5' tall allowed!)

Renee - how are we supposed to reply to the seperate teams? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> Do we send a private message, and if so - to whom? Are we supposed to just post our suggestions on the open forum? I'm sure you will receive a LOT of suggestions for knives - the prize is WORTH it!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Tom

In the bladeforums versions of these threads, folks are just posting their ideas right in the thread.
and there are a LOT of ideas!!
Here are a few of mine, for the Yard:
A BM-E style light slasher with a res-c grip. I'd like to see this made from satin differentially treated SR-101 for a sexy temper line. The drop point and thin steel, along with a full flat grind, would be hot.
A scrap ulu - res-c grip, big nasty choppin blade. This would be a permanent fixture in my kitchen.
Anorexic BDLE - make it an inch longer, and of SUPER thin steel, so it can flex and make a mean fillet knife. Mudders are a given.
Scrap Kuk - simple flat blade, saber ground with about a 1-1.5 inch wide saber grind, similar in style to the Cold Steel LTC kukri. USE THIN SR-77 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Busse has the heavy kuk market covered quite well - we need a thinner, cheaper, brush slasher.
Mega Muk - make the muk bigger, and give it a gut hook, just for fun.
I've got lots more, but that's enough for now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

If that is indeed the proper way to respond, then I would like to see a 10" bladed Regulator, deeper belly like the M9LE, but with the regular Resiprene-C handle.

How about a skeleton-handled SS4 neck knife? Of course, a SR-101 or SR77 version would be just fine as well! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

An 8" bladed, 3/16" thick version of the S5, but with the regular Resiprene-C handle would really be sweet! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> (very similar to KnifeGuy's concept knife!) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

A few questions Renee....
Are we submitting suggestions for a new SY knife? Or will this be a Busse or SR knife as well? Confused about who we are submitting designs for.
Do we submit them here as others have done with a detailed description? Or via email/PM?
Posted as a special offer? Meaning that folks can buy? Or just vote on?
I think I understand the rest. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Thanks.

Here are my submissions:
#1 6-7"(blade) Tanto tactical blade with Mudder handle and Infi or SR-101 steel. 3/16" thick and penetrator tip.
#2 6"(blade) Kephart style bush knife with mudder handles (SY) or G-10/Micarta(SR or Busse), Any of the Busse steels 1/8" to 3/16" thick. No choil. Just slightly blade heavy for chopping.
#3 SY version of the Waki - SR-77 or SR-101 steel. 1/8" thick and in the short sword range(around 24"), Mudder handles(sword style), Katana shaped with steel guard.
Thanks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I want SYKCO to make a knife that will give the Battle Mistress a run for it's money.
The Scrap Yard WAR BIT<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />H!
Res-C handle, 10 inch blade and drop point.
Full flat grind, steel doesn't matter, any of the three would be great.
Chop for days! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
