I would like a 14" recurve bolo blade with a giant mudder handle. I would prefer a light 3/16" blade with a saber grind or else a 1/4" thick with a full flat grind. For a large beater like that, I don't care if it is SR77 or SR101 steel. Either is fine. +1. I would like to see a blade of this size. The Yard hasn't hit past the 12" mark. Either that or a Scrap Yard sword. I miss the idea of the "Sea Dog" cutlass. It would be mainly novelty but there is a little history too. From Wiki: The cutlass is best known as the sailor's weapon of choice, the naval side arm, likely because it was robust enough to hack through heavy ropes, canvas, and wood. It was also short enough to use in relatively close quarters, such as during boarding actions, in the rigging, or below decks. Another advantage to the cutlass was its simplicity of use. The cutlass required less training than the rapier or small sword, and was more effective as a close-combat weapon than the full sized sword. The cutlasses portrayed in films set during the Golden Age of Piracy (1650-1720s) are often anachronistic 19th century weapons. A cutlass is as often an agricultural implement and tool as it is a weapon (cf. machete, to which the same comment applies), being used commonly in rainforest and sugarcane areas, such as the Caribbean and Central America. Woodsmen and soldiers in the 17th and 18th centuries used a similar short and broad backsword called a hanger. From http://www.geocities.com/captcutlass/Weap.html:The pirate cutlass in swashbuckling lore is perhaps one of their most popular weapons. According to legend, buccaneers invented the cutlass, but this may not be factual. It is said to have evolved from the long knives used by the early buccaneers to butcher their meat. It had a blade length of about two feet, and was slightly curved with a single edge. Strong enough to hack through heavy ropes, canvas, or flesh and bone. It's short broad blade proved to be an ideal tool for hand to hand fighting in the confined area of a ship. Making this sword a favorite weapon among Caribbean pirates in the 17th and 18th century. The cutlass was so successful it was copied by many naval forces around the world. So, approximately 24" of single edged, slightly curved diff. temp. SR101 steel. Just sayin'.

i wish i had seen this post earlier today. i'm just glad the the yard is involved now because i was about to post in the other forum that my idea latest idea would be great for Scrapyard.
i'm still thinking mojo but it tured into this!!
my newest idea is a 10"- 12" khukri that's modeled after the mojo/mofo line.
thin sr101 sr101 infi... i'd like to see it thick but i love the mojo and think a thin blade would be nice on a knife like this.
since SYKC is now involved the name even fits better!!! half khukri and half mojo... KHUJO!!!!!
if you look at the tip, belly, and recurve of the mojo that sucker is perfect to extend and curve with maybe a little more belly to create a khuri style blade.

The Mountain Cur !
I'd like to see a wide bladed knife that could be used for a wide variety of tasks around a campsite. It would have a 5" long satin finished blade( satin because one use would be for food prep)with a handle around 4 1/2" long shaped very similar to the Ratmandu but with thicker Micarta slabs. The blade would be a drop point design that is about 2" wide at it's widest point and similar in shape to a Nessmuk pattern. The steel would be 3/16" SR101 or INFI so it has great edge retention. With it's wide, thin blade it would excel at slicing food stuff around camp but still plenty tough for chopping and shaping wood. The edge would be convexed for slicing ability and toughness. There would be no choil with the blade merging flawlessly into the handle in a similar way to the SAR 5. This knife would evoke images of grizzled mountain men of days gone by with their muzzle loaders over the shoulders and their knives hanging at their hips, the kind of men who lived in the mountains because it was their way of life and not a break from their 9 to 5 jobs! I can see this knife stuck in a stump with flames from a camp fire reflecting off the shiny steel as people sip Bourbon and tell each other of their past outdoor adventures under a blanket of stars !
This knife will prove to all the naysayer's that the Busse/kin company doesn't just make sharpened prybars, that they also make real working blades for those that spend a lot of time actually out there using them for real outdoor tasks !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Thanks for the chance !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Id like to see a 4 inch or so "cop tool" like blade with a squared off tip designed for prying. The bottom of it would be the blade and the top would have a seatbelt cutter ground in. Coated blade and respirene c handle. If possable id also like to see the tang extend through the handle end into a glass punch.
You could call it the Scrap Tool, or the Duty Dog. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

A 9.5'' blade of spring tempered SR-101 (Regulator steel), .25'' thickness (or thicker), convex edge, and I don't know if I will get in trouble just talking about this, but the new Res-C handle as seen on the Regulator. Pretty much an updated version of the best knife (IMHO) to come out of the Swamp...the Battle Rat! I would talk about my favorite knife to come out of the Yard, but the first rule of the fight club is...
Or, a Camp Tramp replica with the new Res-C as seen on the Regulator. Thats all I have to say about that.

Scrapyard falcata. Both Busse Combat and Swamp Rat have short swords, but they're eastern inspired. The falcata is a celt-iberian weapon, and out chops eastern swords by an enormous amount. It's almost more of a sword/axe hybrid. In form, the falcata typically has a wrap-around handle for a secure grip (you could leave the wrap-around part bare metal to make handle manufacture easier), a slender concavely curved base, leaning forward and widening to a convexly curved upper half, with the spine a single arc from guard to point. I prefer the older types of falcata, which are slender and with less pronounced curves, not modern ones which take a lot from the kukri with its sharply crooked angle. For the Yard it would be acceptable to simplify the design a little, like stick with one grind all the way down the edge instead of hollowing the base and convexing the point.
It's big, it's beautiful, it chops like like a chainsaw, and there's nobody else that makes one to the same functional standard as SYKCO represents.

Scrapyard has never had a Skelly, the Swamps "Skelly/Swamp-Warden" was so successful and well liked.
The Yard needs to have the least expensive Busse product (swamp-warden was 59 usd when released), but tuff! "Superior Performance to Price Ratio"
To have a little companion to so many big brothers, to piggyback with the big boys/girls, To have a blade that excels in all the other edc and survival chores the heavies weren't made for would be a dream.
Over-all length under 7 inches Blade length under 3 inches (Game Warden and Swamp Warden are 2-7/8 usable edge) Full Grind No choil Bottle opener built in (beer!) Coated made for piggyback, pocket, neck, and hidden usage Under 30! (Bossdawg said it! but not necessary)
