I FOUND MY SCRAPPER 5!!!!!!!!
I FOUND MY SCRAPPER 5!!!!!!!!!

I FOUND MY SCRAPPER 5!!!!!!!!
I FOUND MY SCRAPPER 5!!!!!!!!!

I got up this morning and packed up a few tools just in case it was on the other side of the fence. A couple clothes hangers, some string, and some needle nose pliers. Got to the feild and didn't see anything. Got to the fence and there it was on the other side!!!!!! About 2 feet inside like it probably fell out of my pack while I was trying to get over. I just bent a hanger and snagged it and wiggled it through the fence. Now it's back home! Shouldn't have waited this long to go back and check the fence.

I feel a whole lot better!!!

Thats amazing! Congrats. I'm interested to know if it was worse for wear? The place looks kind of wet, was there rust on the edge?

Did you lose it with the sheath, or did it fall out of your sheath? If your sheath was secure, you could consider making a simple paracord lock for it (tie the pommel hole to your sheath or something) for future outings.

One part about losing my S5 Is that I had just gotten kydex from David. This was sheath was a gift from our JYD run. I was really excited to have some pants for my S5 and then to loose them on the first real day out.

It was wet out on the day I lost ithe S5 but it hasn't rained any more this week. I was getting antsy about It raining so that made me decide to go ahead and check the field and fence. The S5 had a few small rust spots but they brushed off with a few wipes. Nothing to really speak about.

Needless to say... I'm thinking blaze orange handles, lanyards, kydex, and a lojack (sp?) system.

One quick note...and you may be aware of this.... or have a different viewpoint.... There may be others that will not agree, but... Do not put a lanyard that is on your knife onto your wrist when chopping... when your ML9 came out of your hand, a lanyard would have potentially brought it back around and it could have cut the snot out of you... or worse, hit an artery.... I have hauled more than one man to the ER when we were out cutting line in the field and them have the knife rebound on their lanyard and cut them open.... When you are chopping for long periods of time, your hand will fatigue, and the blade will come out of your hand.... believe it...
I am not telling you what to do, or anyone else for that matter, but just take it as friendly advice... I have seen it happen... its better to chase a blade than pull it out of your arm, or leg... Of course, even without the lanyard, it could still get you... seen that too... but it is less likely to do so....IMHO

I had this exact thing happen to me with an 18" blade machete. I have used machetes for years. You are right. You won't find any lanyards on my machetes. There is one on my golok that came with it, but I don't wrap it around my wrist. A sharp 18" blade whipping around tethered to your wrist is not a fun thing. It can hit anywhere. Mine hit my leg, causing substantial blood loss. Forget using a lanyard. Not me. Not again. Get some friction tape and wrap your handle if you must. But having a bright colored fob or lanyard to make it easy to find makes sense. Glad you found your lost S5, lazi.

Good advice on the lanyard. I don't thing I want to experience a dogfather yoyo!

Looks like I did right in deciding to go looking early. Looks like rain is coming. It would really sucked knowing my S5 was getting rained on somewhere.
