One thing does worry me. If my dog working buddies find out I am a "Pound Puppy", even on a forum, I may not hear the end of it for quite a while. What do I have to do to get upgraded to a German, German Shepherd?

The point about the Scrap Yard site organization is well taken. On the other hand, since I am the author of my site, I know what it takes to make changes too. There just always seems to be one or two more things one wants to add, remove or reorganize.

Slicing on,

Mick

Definitely try and get an S5 over a Dumpster Mutt, better steel, better handle, better blade thickness !!!!!

Thanks for the reinforcement of my decision to put the order in for the Scrapper 5 LE!

I appreciate good steel and I don't mind spending extra to get the INFI the current offering is made from. Every thing I read seems to indicate INFI is a "tough" steel to beat for knives. Good thing because mine will see constant use.

So now I am studying on the sheath issue. I have been to both Rainwalker and Mashed Cats. I think I am sold on Kydex. Even though my German Shepherds laugh at anything being "indestructible" I think the Kydex will stand up to claws pretty well if not teeth and jaw pressure. I want an attachment system I can move around during the day as my duties change: tractor operator, shepherd, dog/person trainer, cook, decoy/agitator/helper....

The Tek-Lok Belt Clips look like they would be easy to move around quickly yet a sturdy platform in many different positions? Does any one have real world experience to offer?

Mick

Tec-Locks are a great choice as they offer lots of versatility. They enable either traditional carry or two screws later and ya have one geared up for horizontal carry. Quick and easy to remove...ya can't go wrong !

Congrats Mick on your purchase! Your gonna luv it

One problem I see you might have is a dog chewing your handle/Res-C which is like a syth rubber, only firmer. I have heard of squirrels munching on them

Kydex I think would be your best option for what you want and what will be around your blade, doggies! Consider a "Dangler" system with it, ask any good sheath maker (pm here or email) and I'm sure they'll give you the low-down and idea's.

Kydex does make marks on the Res-C, more or less but it's not a big deal, and any of the good makers will make it exactly the way you need it, as far as fit and security. Some like it tight, some like it loser, it's a custom job and they work with you (I know Jeff excels at this).

Rainwalker has like every main blade from SY, so no need to worry about sending it in to him, man's a Busse Museum!

If I were new, I would talk/PM/Email a few sheath makers and get idea's and impressions and check a few older threads, many have pictures, info and reviews. Also the "search" function can help. Good Luck buddy
