I think if I were working with a bunch of dogs that chew things, I'd be looking at a Chris Reeve solid steel knife in a steel bayonet style scabbard. Let the mutts chew on that. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I see several different dangling loop systems. I'm not sure those would work for me. I need to be able to throw and swing objects with my arms too much of the time. After guiding dog bites onto designated objects many thousands of times over 30 years one can get pretty good at predicting and controlling the what, when and where of how a dog uses those pointy teeth.

I got a note from Eric at Mashed Cat Outfitters:
"I can make the sheath for the scrapper 5 with a knife I have. All
sheaths come equipped with a large TekLok belt clip, and are versatile for
carry options."
There is a nice picture of a SYKW Scrapper5 & sheath ( $45 + s/h ) on the site:
http://www.mashedcat.com/
The knife in the picture even has the same handle.

I sent a note to Rainwalker but have not heard back yet.
A similar sheath from here appears to be $5-10 more.

I read on these pages that SY may offer a sheath closer to shipping time. Following the Scrapper5 LE thread it sounds like the order is about to close. I am wondering how it works from here?

Do they ship all the knives at once after making all they can or do they just start making them and ship them one at a time as they make them?

Do people pre order sheaths, or do they wait to get their knives in hand. I am wondering since I hear it can take a while to get a sheath too. Mashed Cat seems to think they can make a sheath that will fit this knife from a knife they have. I have also seen posts which suggest that if the new knives were different in size than older models new specs would have been posted. Maybe the risk is that SY will cut a deal on sheaths and make something available at a more attractive price?

Slice on,

Mick

I agree you get quite a bit of flexibility with a kydex setup and a TekLok. Here is a basic kydex sheath with a TekLok that allows for either left or right hand carry. I usually carry a small fixed blade on my secondary side, but here is a pick of an HRLM carried on the primary side. I find a 4" blade is a decent amount of weight when carrying a pistol. With a 1911 and a blade, I usually wear suspenders.

Welcome to the Yard, you are in the right place for some great knives. We have a number of great sheath makers who are also Dogs. If you go back in this thread and click on the link in Andy's sig line he has some good resources. The S5LE should have the same stats as the S5 except, without the coating it may be a touch slimmer, but I don't think this would affect buying one of the sheaths already on the market.

Welcome Mick!

I think the tek-lok kydex is a great option as long as you can keep the dogs away from the res-c. With the right setup you won't even feel the blade. My kydex with tek-lock from Rainwalker and BuyBrown is perfect, neither feel heavy and those are for my Regulator and S-5.

Welcome to the Yard, Mick.

A sheath for the S5 CG should work for the S5 LE.

I'd place an order with Mashed Cat, since he offers prompt delivery.

I've been waiting for Rainwalker to get to my order for months.
