I was doing a little comparison between a Busse FSH, Scrapper 6, Dog Father and a BRKT Bravo 2. I got a blister about half-way through and put on a glove to cover it up. Well, one of the knives is a little slick with a glove and the very first swing it let loose. Right into my leg. I didn't think it was that major and just wrapped it up for about three hours. My wife thought otherwise and took me to ER. Nine stiches later and I'm back home. Unfortunately (besides my leg) I won't have time to load all the videos into youtube tonight. I learned a few lessons today; nothing like real-life experience.
Some learning:
1) The three knives that did NOT let loose had a guard on both ends of my hand, which prevented the knives from sliding around too much
2) Slick gloves and slick handles DON'T mix
3) I have a new appreciation for lanyards
4) High speed chopping wears me out and gives me a blister
5) I need to work on my chopping technique
6) The doctor says I have a lightning bolt laceration...cool
7) Heavy 8" and 10" choppers are in a league of their own
8) RESPECT THE BLADE
There might be a few other things after I watch my videos and get my thoughts together about the comparison.
Oh, what's a post like this without pictures, even bad cell-phone ones:
