That sucks Dan. We get some crazy strikes out here as well, but we have never taken a direct hit.

I've had lightning fry a brand new TV once, Dan. Got rid of that tower antennae outside the house, installed decent surge protectors and hope for the best now.

Mighty useful those res-c handles in a lightnin storm!!!

Brightest light I ever saw was a lightening strike in the middle of the street once.
Sure glad everyone is ok and the house is still standing!

We had a bolt hit right next to the house. Took out a computer or two and a large part of the telephone wiring had to be replaced. Some of our dogs apparently took partial hits, one bitch was a real pain about storms after that. I use to have to take a chair and "coax" her out of the house when we had long storms and I could see her bladder was about to burst. The bitch was totally irrational about the whole thing and my chair suffered from her fear up until she died at almost 14.

I was in the kennel during another storm and a bolt hit a tree just outside. I got treated to the site of blue light and sparks dancing along the dog wire fence right next to me. Humbling is something of an under statement. I feel your pain.

So when we have storms I go stand in one of the two places it has hit before. Lightning never strikes the same place twice right? Well at least I have a choice.

That sucks! I can't go a day without missing the warm inviting glow of my monitor.

Do what I did Dan, go order a battery backup/surge protector. Mine is also guaranteed against lightning.
