I could be wrong, Recon, but I get the feeling that Dan and Jerry couldn't care less about the timing of other manufacturers' releases. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> That is true!

Jerry has claimed that their main market is military sales, but that doesn't mean I buy that statement at face value. He claims the newer, crappier Bama Clay texture is to reduce reflectivity for military contracts. While I have no doubt his intention in changing the finish was to reduce reflectivity, I find it absolutely laughable to believe that there is some big military order of Bama Clay knives out there somewhere, strapped to a bunch of soldiers' packs. It's just not something that a military contractor would do - buying a bunch of pretty knives and requesting them in this weird sandpaper textured finish.
I think of Jerry's statements very much like I would think of the campfire stories of my crazy uncle - full of hyperbole and imagination, and not to be taken at face value for anything more than a laugh and some fun. Bama Clay is the color of a many South American countries. Wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I think I have all the Scrappers I'll ever want. Unless Dan has some super chopper in mind. As nice as the Regulator is, I have plenty of nice Bowies. I have been collecting Bowies for years. The SOD fills that size nicely for me. But you never know. Dan might surprise me with another cool mudder handled 154CM blade that I can't resist.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Once I got the DFLE, that was the high point of Scrap Yard knives for me. The SODLE is fine, but it's just a shorter DFLE. Lately my choppers have been from Swamp Rat and Busse Combat, now that they're making light fast ones like the M9LE and BWM. But those little mudder handled knives are so useful and practical. The Bird Dog, Scrap Muk, and Mud Puppy are great, as is the Scrapper 5. A new 4" mudder handled knife would be cool. Something similar to the SS4, or better yet, something like the SAR4 in 154CM with a mudder handle would get me to buy another Scrapper.
