I requested it but didn't get it. Not really a big worry to me, as I only requested it as a novelty, and I'll beat on a knife the same no matter what number is on it. I ended up with 99 (JYD # is 79), so I was probably just a bit too late. I ordered 2-3 minutes after they went up on the site.

I requested my number in the comment section when I ordered my knife, but didn't really expect to get it. Its not that big of a deal. I did order another knife a week before the ordering closed.

It's really not a big deal, but couldn't the JYD numbers have been offered first to the JYDs?

Not really. Just open sales to JYDs early to allow them to order their number. But it doesn't matter now. It's over.

I got my #84 but I ordered within the first 2 minutes.

hehehe , i didnt make jyd at the time =) the shipping of the s5le kinda made me push.... next time it comes up if its offered then ill take em up on it....

but in a way i would rather they get the knife out faster so i can play then about the number on the blade.... right now trying to track it down is kinda fun hahaha but i doubt ill find it...

I've deleted the messages I exchanged with another JYD that contained exact times, but from memory I recall that he got in about three minutes of the S5LE hitting the shelves. I got in 32 seconds after #1 (I was already logged in and had verified my profile info while waiting for the GO; all I had to do was put in cart, select profile and enter my CC# -- I don't know how they got in so fast). Renee [and Dan, of course] was kind enough to allow me to request both my number and his. The "natural order" S5LEs I received were 15, 16, and 17. My JYD# is (of course) 60, and the one I received in exchange for his JYD# was 153.

So, within 32 seconds, exclusive of JYD# requests, the count was at least at 17, and in just over 3 minutes, it had reached 153. A LOT of folks were F5-ing for the S5LE release, and low numbers went very fast. I've got my JYD# in the MPLE, BDLE, and S5LE; I missed getting it in the Muk and SoD LE -- that's just the way it is.

I posted before the S5 LE release that it's a mistake to get too wrapped up in the JYD# thing, that will almost inevitably lead to disappointment. I think I read a MM post that he didn't receive his JYD#, but planned to enjoy the S5LE regardless -- that's the attitude you should strive for. When I found out that I couldn't get the SoD LE in my JYD#, I considered canceling it from my order, and I still think of that knife as being the one that broke up "my set" rather than as a fine knife to take pride in owning. Your knife should be much more important than the number; I speak from experience that you'll be happier if you can consider getting your JYD# LE as a minor bonus rather than a significant goal. That's not to say that you shouldn't try for it when you order or trade for it if you can, but you shouldn't let not having your JYD# detract from enjoying a great knife.

To be honest, I real would have liked my JYD# on the S5LE. I don't mind though, as I had to put myself on the back burner for some medical bills/tests/ etc. that decided to raise its nasty head. I am glad someone was abler to get there JYD# though.
