Hike the AT through the Smokey mountain National Park. There is about 75 miles of the AT that run through that park. Just do 3 days worth. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> We just hiked 4 miles of it from Newfound Gap on my trip a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Caught a glimpse of a Black bear eating berries in front of us on the trail - then he bolted.

You might also take a look at the Savage Gulf/Stone Door area (South Cumberland Recreation Area). You can hike thru from one to the other in a few days. It has lots of high overlooks, waterfalls and some old growth forest. An added bonus...bear have been reintroduced but I have yet to see any. Have fun.
