I know what you mean MM. I try to wipe down any SR101 with a Tuff Cloth after just about every use if possible. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I still love the steel though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

After using and abusing the m9le in satin SR101, I don't think I would buy another satin SR101 knife any time soon. It's an awesome blade, but it definitely gets rust stained pretty easily. I think I'd prefer my SR101 coated from here on out. It might even be worse than 1095 in regards to rusting, and every single piece of 1095 I own is coated, for good reason.

Thanks for your input MM. I do not have any satin SR101 blades so it is very helpful to hear your experiences. How about the rust resistance of 154CM? I use my Scrap Muk for food preparation and I have not had problems with rust.

154 does real well for me, very rust resistant. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the realistic review Crux.

I prefer my LE mainly because of the satin finish. If Dan had released a Scrapper 5 in SR101 with a satin finish and no LE numbers I would have been just as happy. Maybe future knives from Scrap Yard will have that option.

As much as I like shiny uncoated blades, I have to say that SR101 just won't stay that way long if you use it at all and don't immediately clean and oil it after use. Or you can use Tuf Cloth. It stains and rusts easily. No big deal since I have a Scrap Muk in 154CM that I really like about as much. I say, make the LE models in 154CM. It stays shiny.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I agree, Horn Dog. I love the look of a satin blade....and I think that's the only reason I'm slightly more infatuated with my S5LE. After getting a good edge on my 154CM blades...I'm loving them. SS4's in 154CM? count me in!

I must be one of the few on this site that does not mind a patina on a carbon blade

Nice review. I love my S5, but still wish I had purchased the S5LE. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />
