Bama clay does have a reddish brown tint to it, so it could be called a bit of a "rusty" color - but it definitely does NOT look like bare rusted steel in person. Those pictures were taken at night with a flash, and I'm a lousy photographer, so the colors are somewhat washed-out.

Here's a better picture, under more optimal lighting conditions, to give you a better sense of what the color looks like:

Hey, it's your thread, MM. For some odd reason, that Bama clay is starting to look better to me. I must stop looking now.

I like 'Bama Clay a lot, but there wasn't much of it at the last Knob Creek. I got a couple desert sand blades instead -- it's similar to clay, but with yellow base instead of red.

I've got 4 FSH, one in Bama Clay like MM and 3 in Arctic White with hand-shaped black G-10 handles (I like them a LOT). Both those models were sold in the 2008 VetDayGanzaaa (#s 13B and 13C). I've also got one of the Bama Clay NMSFNOs with hand-shaped tan Micarta, and paid full release price for it. Those hand-shaped handles feel very good, but they were a +$60 upgrade on NMSFNOs, so I suspect there aren't nearly as many of them in circulation as NMSFNOs with machined handles.

MM, I pictured you as more of a mustard yellow coating kind of guy. If they made such a coating...

After all, you are MustardMan and MustardHam

The funny thing is, I despise the taste of mustard. Hate it. I guess that's good - if I ate mustard, that'd make me a cannibal

I was given the nickname when I was a kid, because I FREAKED OUT that someone had put mustard on my sandwich or burger or something. It sort of stuck for a while, and I ended up using it when I signed up for the knife boards. I've found out that there are actually OTHER people on the intertubes who use the name "mustardman" as well... and here I thought I was being original

That is sooo not the color I thought Bama Clay was.

It's the color of red clay.

It's not pink. No one say it's PINK!

Doesn't it look a little pink?

No... it is most certainly not PINK!!!! Why, its a bona-fide real world non PINK!!! color, representing the soil in and around Alabama, hence the name...Bama Clay....
I can't go on with that drivel...Its not really PINK!!!! ...but maybe as close as one could get....

PINK!!!! PINK!!!! PINK!!!!

oops...I couldn't help myself...

Just keep beating them through wood and stuff...you'll get that PINK!!!! off...

HEH HEH HEH HEH
