I live 2 1/2 hours away and went the last 2 years.

It was a great time and a lot of nice knives there. There were a few scrapyards like MPLE, SOD, BDLE and the Regulator last year. Most of the Busse knives were satin, but there were a few on the table that were CG. If you do attend, I would suggest getting there on Friday when the show opens.

EVERY knife enthusiast should attend Blade at least once in their life! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> You have the opportunity to meet the Owners/Manufacturers of knife companies, check out a LOT of custom makers, and best of all meet the Busse Groups and fellow Dogs, Rats, and Hogs. As mentioned in an earlier post, Thursday evening usually has a group of Busse addicts dining at a restaurant, same as Friday. On Saturday night the Busses holds their induction dinner party - a fun and family friendly get-together that the Busses pay for! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> The last couple of years it was held at the restaurant in the Waverly Hotel - the Busses reserved the entire restaurant. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> It is really a fun and relaxed time, and you can really visit with fellow Bussekins.

Being as cheap as I am, I stay at an "extended stay" hotel about three miles away - it costs about $100.00 a night less than the Waverly Renaissance Hotel! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> I would rather spend the extra money on new knives instead of giving it to the hotel, but to each their own! There are LOTS of less expensive restaurants in the area so you don't have to break the bank if you are taking the family.

I have wanted to attend Blade even before I found Bussekin, but have never made it. I know Blade West is no where near the size, experience, or show that Blade is, but the crazy low prices can't be beat! Stay off the Exchange and save your dollars for a show.

Eh, the PD was cool and the color was right, but I'm not the biggest tanto fan, and I spent enough money at that show.... lucky for me, half the blades were for other Dogs so I got to fondle them but didn't have to pay for them <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, the ONLY reason I stayed at the Waverly, was so I could drink all night long at the fountain, and stumble up to my room. PLus the show is attached to the hotel. No driving <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />..

THat said, the Waverly is a rip. THere is a bottle of water in the room, and if you drink it, they charge you. THat, and a crazy expensive breakfast menu.

I have a lot of tantos and that PD was sweet, I held onto it for quite some time, but I had told myself I could not buy another tanto. I put it down and mikeymoto snatched it.
