10"+ blades can all be called machetes no matter how thick they are. Does it really matter what you call it? I call my 24" Ontario "Billy Bad @$$" (excuse my french) and would dare anyone to stand within a few feet of him and say different. LOL
I mean it would be one thing to call a Dog Father a folding knife or Hobo knife but I wouldn't freak out if someone called mine a "camp knife" or a "machete" because it can be either one. The Battle Mistress, no matter the thickness is a machete. The Dog Father, machete. Scrapper 5 CG, machete. My 2 function swiss army knife, MACHETE!

LOL. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Darned right! If I'm whacking something with it, it's a machete! Now go over to Busse forum and set them straight! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I'm going to name my Ka-Bar Tom. BTW, I used that M9 sheath you so kindly sent me. I like it a lot. It rides good. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the honor on both counts! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I'm glad the sheath works for you, and like I said it is what I use as well. The "dangler" style is simply more versatile than a typical belt carry. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I will make one for my Bushwhacker Mistress as well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Oh finally, we have a definitive answer to what makes a machete a machete. Byrd over on RAT forum figured it out. If it is CHEAP, its a machete.

So any large knife used for chopping or brush clearing that's cheap is a machete. If it costs more than a few bucks, it is something else.

Machetes are like porn. I can't describe it exactly, but I know it when I see it.

What, no sheath for me, Tom??? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I've actually got the Buy Brown exposed spine sheath for my m9... love that thing!

Kinda makes me want to take the m9 out with me this weekend, actually. I could grab the Snakeskin Mojo and make it a fast and light weekend.

No it's like cheap porn. Think Tijuana.
