As far as daggers go, I'd prefer a boot knife similar to the old A.G. Russell sting.

Something along the line of the Cold Steel Tia Pan. It might be sacraligous to mention liking the design of one of their products but I think that dagger would be a good place to start design wise.

I would completely get an applegate fairbairn style dagger, regular res-c (maybe with grooves) handle.

Perhaps you should start, "The Cult of the Dagger" then you could carry a dagger for religious reasons. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I'm soooo glad I'm in N. CA. I'd rather be in AZ or even TX, but I'm stuck here. TX has weird bowie knife laws though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I am not sure about the specific laws in TX about bowies. But having lived there I am sure it is okay to use it to dice and slice anyone that is thinking of breaking into your house or a neighbors for that fact. Texans have no tolerance for Bad behavior...kind of cool that citizens in good standing are the ones the state cares about, not the criminal

Listening to local talk radio when the trial was going on, it was amazing how many people called in to let us know that the two burglers were just braking into a neighbors house and that he should not have confronted them, so, therefore he was the cause of the incident and not their criminal behavior. I am almost surprised there was not a riot.

The restrictions in the Texas knife laws, as I understand them, are for normal EDC but when the person is 'camping or performing outdoors activities', such as yard work etc., all restrictions are off. That being said, I would not use a dagger anywhere but at home in a collection. I would not want to be the one trying to defend the use of a double edged dagger with double guard or a true automatic release knife to defend my house. It would be much easier to defend the use of a gun in a court of law regardless of what the person is illegally trying to do to you or your property.
