You should read the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks, that will teach you everything you need to know about the origins of zombies, as well as how to avoid and fight them.

I just finished reading THE ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GUIDE and WORLD WAR Z. Found them both on line, ZSG is in pdf and WW Z as an e-book, used Microsoft reader for it. Both Good books. You could actually see the happenings in WW Z. Well written.
